Ladurée Paris Inspired First Birthday Party

Updated: Aug 13, 2022

Macarons, cake, French pastries…what could be sweeter than a Ladurée inspired party? After 5 years of hosting boy-themed parties, I was so excited to plan a fancy, girly affair!

The theme was an evolution. I loved the idea of something Parisian, and was torn between a French flower market or a patisserie. I decided to blend the two by focusing on the famous macaron maker while incorporating lots of blooms!

Where did I get so many Ladurée boxes, you might ask? I had a few boxes and bags collected from past trips to Paris and New York, but the rest I was able to snag on eBay and Poshmark for a couple of dollars each. I simply added my own ribbon for a beautifully polished look.

The incredible macaron tower was the centerpiece of the party. Asma at TRIFLES Houston was able to make my vision a reality, and I’m so grateful! The cake below the tower is a dupe of Ladurée’s Marie Antoinette cake, beautifully crafted by Common Bond Bakery.

Having tea at Ladurée is one of my favorite memories, so I set the table with a silver tea set (thrifted from a local consignment shop) and a silver tiered stand with croissants, tarts and mousse from an authentic French bakery in our area.

What I typically do for my flower arrangements is order bulk roses from Costco as a base and then buy specialty roses and other hard-to-get flowers at Central Market. This time, I decided to try Grace Rose Farms, and was very pleased. Their roses are beautiful!

For a cake smash backdrop, I set up our lemonade stand with a balloon garland that included artificial roses and eucalyptus. We happened to have a perfectly colored vintage-style bicycle, which I set out as well with a bouquet of roses in the basket.

A last minute addition, that turned out to be one of my favorite details, was this favor box my mom found on Zazzle. The personalization was so fun, and all the guests were able to take macarons home to enjoy!

This party was such a delight to plan and was the perfect celebration for our sweet little girl!
